Crystal Chronicles

Crystal Chronicles 2019 | Team project

Entertainment game | Single player | Role playing game

Current state: Early development
Crystal Chronicles is a Role playing game currently being develope in RPG Maker MV. This game is being developed by me and a fello designer Bas Blouw.
Crystal Chronicles is a role playing game based on a intriguing story that follows the journey of Zayn, who gets himself tied into a plot that will change life as they know it, while on a quest to save his ill sister.

It is a simple old RPG game with turn based combat set in a medieval fantasy world with swords and magic. In this world a mysterious sickness is spreading turning people into crystals. But what is the cause of this sickness? and can it be cured? this is what our main character will try to find out in an effort to save his little sister and fellow villagers in the town of arduin. Follow his journey to uncover the mysteries behind the sickness.
My role in this project has been mainly focused on the design aspects of the game. I created the overarching story, and i am tasked with creating most of the characters throughout the game. Besides this, and various other smaller tasks, most of my work currently goes to creating the maps for the area's and cities. This includes everything inside the cities, from the inside of houses, to the flavour text and interactions.
The assets used in this project are all standard assets provided by the RPG Maker MV engine, and the characters are made through a character generator with the assets provided.

Wrath of the Fuma Gath

Wrath of the Fuma Gath 2018 | Team project

Entertainment game | Single player | Role playing game

Current state: Prototype stage

Wrath of the Fuma Gath is one of the games i'm currently developing within Ravel Entertainment, a group im setting up with some classmates.

We chose a concept that we definitely would like to play ourselves because that's how we think great games are made. This game's concept is basically a hack 'n slash side-scroller with the basic three classes: ranger, mage, and warrior. But instead of going even further on the road towards old-schooliness, we are about to combine it with more modern elements that exist in games nowadays. We're giving the players something to recognize from older games in combination with the innovation of current games, which is certain to blow the player off his/her seat.

All the lore in this game is based on a made-up world.

The design of the game has been created through combined effort of me and another designer.

The current version is PRE-ALPHA 2.1.0

This project is being developed by my company:

Ravel Entertainment.

The epic story of blank and blank

The epic story of blank and blank 2016 | Team project

Entertainment game | Single player | Physical card game

Current state: Final Beta stages, getting ready for publishing

The epic story of blank and blank is a party game that started as a school project, but was continued after the assignment was complete. The epic story is a game where players are divided into one monster role and multiple teams of heroes. The players have to use a combination of picture and text cards to create a story for their role. The monster is tasked with conquering the world, while the hero teams need to stop him. The game is based on creativity, where at the end of a round the players have to vote on who had the best, most creative and/or most hilarious  story.
This game is a 2 man project from me and another designer Robin WH Smit.  The game is currently still in development. We both did an equal part of the work, where most of the work includes creating new cards, and play-testing.
We are currently working towards finalizing the game's design, and working towards publishing the game with help from indietopia.

One of which means moving the penguin through space.

My part in this project was Game Designer. During this project i created the initial concept, I worked on

Against the Flood

Against the flood | 2017 | Team project
Serious game | Single player | Storyline roleplaying game.
Current state: Prototype stage
Against the Flood is a project game made for the water boards. The goal of this game was to make the dutch people more aware of the importance of the taxes paid for the maintenance of the dutch waterworks.
This game is a Virtual Reality experience in which the player experiences the worst case scenario of a giant flood in the Netherlands, set in an alternate reality where these taxes have been removed. The player's point of view switches between two main characters during this story driven VR experience: an average man and a government CEO tasked with preventing these kinds of disasters.
My role in this project was that of a Game Designer, level designer and as a story writer. Throughout this project i worked on the documentation, but most my time went to creating the mechanics and level design for the game. Together with these tasks, i spend a lot of work with one of the other members of the group creating a touching and revealing story for the game. To make this story as relatable as possible, I also spend a lot of time doing research and implementing this in our work.
